Ce mercredi 25 juin 2025, une vingtaine de journalistes du Sud-Kivu ont débuté une formation essentielle sur la vérification des faits (fact-checking), une compétence cruciale dans le paysage médiatique actuel.
Organisée par l’Association des Femmes des Médias (AFEM Sud-Kivu), cette initiative s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet « Médias professionnels et inclusifs pour la promotion de la recevabilité sociale, la démocratie, la cohésion sociale et la bonne gouvernance », financé par la Direction du Développement et de la Coopération (DDC).
Au cœur des enjeux de cette formation, la lutte contre la propagation des fausses nouvelles. Comme l’a souligné M. Gustave Katshuva, le formateur du jour, « Le fact-checking est le seul moyen, aujourd’hui, de lutter contre la désinformation. » Il a insisté sur le rôle primordial des journalistes : « Il est important pour les journalistes d’avoir des connaissances en vérification des faits, parce que ce sont eux qui sont en première ligne dans la diffusion des informations. Leurs informations doivent être vraies et vérifiables. »
La première journée de cette session a été dédiée à une exploration approfondie des différentes facettes de l’information trompeuse. Les discussions ont porté sur la désinformation, la malinformation et la mésinformation. Pour clarifier ces concepts souvent confondus :
- La désinformation est une information fausse, sciemment publiée avec l’intention de nuire.
- La malinformation, bien que vraie, est diffusée dans une intention malveillante.
- La mésinformation est une information fausse, partagée par une personne qui la croit sincèrement vraie.
Après cette distinction fondamentale, les participants ont également abordé un lexique plus large lié à la désinformation. La journée de ce jeudi 26 juin 2025 sera consacrée à des exercices pratiques de vérification, avant la clôture de la session prévue ce vendredi 27 juin 2025.
Cette formation représente un pas significatif vers un journalisme plus rigoureux et responsable dans la province, essentiel pour renforcer la confiance du public et soutenir les piliers de la démocratie. @almahussein28
